DETAILS
The City of Surrey hosted an online contest urging artists, designers and students to submit their proposed design based on the theme of "Water".
The winning design was selected from 40 submissions and was up on 150 light poles in the streets of Surrey from 2015 -2016 Spring.

SKETCHES >> FIRST ITERATIONS
During the conceptualizing process, my focus was on developing the theme of "water" into not just the ordinary imagery of a water drop or a pool of water, but how the abundant water resources we have in the Lower Mainland allowed for rich growth in the environment.
From this concept, I developed 2 banner designs: one featuring two fishes named "Cycle", and one featuring two trees on a dam named "Bonds".

FINAL DESIGN
The design that won was "Cycle" which went through a few more visual changes. Namely, the two fishes were changed from koi-like physiques to resembling salmon (orange) and whale (white). Additional details and cleaning of the designs were also undertook as well as colour adjustments.
